Unity has identified content creation using AI as one of the key developmental directions for the company by 2026.
This announcement was made by Unity's CEO and President Matthew Bromberg during a conference call with investors summarizing the fourth quarter results.
Currently, the company is working on an updated version of the Unity AI assistant integrated into their editor, with the beta version set to be showcased at the upcoming GDC 2026.
“With its help, developers will be able to create full-fledged casual games through prompts using natural language. This will simplify the transition from prototype to finished product,” stated Bromberg (this quote was first highlighted by Game Developer).
The exact workings of the updated Unity AI are unclear. Bromberg is convinced that the tool will enhance efficiency, lower entry barriers, and democratize development for those not versed in programming. Additionally, the company is preparing to introduce improved tools for managing in-game purchases.
Lastly, Bromberg made another prediction — the spread of AI tools will attract “tens of millions” of new developers to the industry.
It’s worth noting that Unity is still operating at a loss. In 2025, the company lost over $400 million, and its most successful segment remains monetization tools. This is partly due to the Unity Vector AI-powered advertising platform.
