At a conference in South Korea, Unity introduced the next version of its eponymous engine — Unity 7.

The engine's team promises that with Unity 7, developers will be able to create games faster than ever before. This acceleration can partly be achieved through "close integration" with AI-based tools, the development of CoreCLR, and a series of innovations. For instance, Unity 7 aims to speed up shader compilation by up to 90% and offer nearly instant Play Mode launch.

Other features announced for Unity 7 include enhanced graphics with more realistic lighting and improved detail, new monetization options based on the Unity Vector platform, a free MCP protocol for connecting AI agents, and much more.

According to the company, transitioning from Unity 6 to Unity 7 will not require developers to "rebuild" their projects — they will seamlessly transition to the updated environment thanks to the direct development of the engine's architecture.

Beta testing for Unity 7 begins in December 2026, with the full release expected in the first quarter of the following year, by the end of March 2027.
