It is called Fluorite.

The automotive corporation unveiled the engine during the FOSDEM 2026 conference. It reported that its development is being handled by Toyota Connected North America in collaboration with Very Good Ventures.

Although Fluorite is positioned as a full-fledged game engine, Toyota does not need it for creating games. According to the corporation, it intends to use the tool in the development of interactive car displays. Interestingly, Toyota initially considered using third-party engines, but they were either too expensive or too resource-intensive. After carefully weighing all options, Toyota ultimately decided to create their own engine.

Fluorite is expected to be a "console-level" engine. Its foundation will be based on a C++ Entity Component System architecture and Google's Filament renderer.

Toyota plans to release Fluorite's source code publicly, but it's unclear when this will occur.
