The platform 4game attempted to paint a picture of the Russian gamer. We selected the main results of the study.

Lineage II

  • The majority of gamers surveyed by 4game are male. Only one-seventh of respondents are female.
  • The age of 76% of gamers ranges from 25 to 45 years, with the average age of respondents being around 30 years.
  • 84% of gamers reported preferring to play on a PC. Separately, 32% noted that they play on laptops. 57% of respondents occasionally use mobile devices for gaming. Consoles lag significantly in popularity, chosen by 11% of gamers.
  • The most popular PC game genres are MMORPGs (82%), RPGs (44%), shooters (33%), strategies (28%), and adventures (16%).
  • 42% of gamers live in major cities. Among them, 16% are Muscovites.
  • 57% of gamers work from an office, 15% work remotely, and 9% own their own business. Respondents also identified their professions to 4game, which included IT specialists, seafarers, truck drivers, factory workers, and ballerinas.
  • The most popular hobby among respondents is watching movies and TV shows (70%). Also in the top 7 are outdoor activities (35%), socializing with friends (35%), cooking (24%), reading fiction (21%), reading educational literature (20%), and traveling (19%).
  • 69% of gamers have pets. Among them, 42% have cats, and 16% have dogs.

The survey, which formed the basis of the study, included 1,362 users of the 4game platform.

"The results of the study are primarily relevant for players who prefer PC games, as they make up the majority of our platform's audience. I would like to note that the gaming community in Russia is broad in both interests and numbers. As of 2024, 22% of Russians (about 30 million people) play video games (according to VCIOM data), and creating a 'universal portrait' for such a community is challenging. Among them, everyone loves something different, and our goal was to showcase the uniqueness and diversity of our players' interests," said Oleg Tsarkov, head of the 4game analytics team, in a comment to App2Top.
