China’s majors continue to buy European assets. It became known about the deal between Lightspeed Studios, which is a division of Tencent, and Lucid Games from Liverpool.
As Lucid Games recently announced on its official Twitter profile, it is now part of the Tencent family. In the same place, the studio noted that it had retained full independence in matters of creating games and operating.
At the same time, the studio is confident that the new owner will receive both support in terms of the technology stack and in terms of working with the global network.
It is not reported how much Lucid Games cost the Chinese company and on what specific conditions it joined its portfolio of assets.
Lucid Games is primarily known as the developer of the Destruction AllStars car arcade, which was released two years ago as an exclusive for PlayStation 5. She also helped develop Sea of Thieves, Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
As for Lightspeed, today it is positioned by Tencent as a co-developer of PUBG Mobile. The company was also responsible for the development of the cancelled Apex Legends Mobile.
