The State Duma Committee on Information Policy agreed that video games that promote LGBT, violence and drugs should be regulated in Russia. This was announced on her page in VKontakte by the author of the initiative, Yana Lantratova.

However, according to Lantratova, the committee advised not to amend the bill banning LGBT people in Russia. Instead, he proposed creating a separate bill. Lantratova herself can join the working group that will deal with him.

In the bill, the wording on the prohibition of games may be greatly softened. This follows from the words of the head of the committee, Alexander Khinshtein.

“The Committee is against regulating the industry by introducing an amendment to the second reading, which is rather vague, in our opinion. This will lead not only to the ban of those games that promote non—traditional sexual values … it will also lead to the ban of the main number of all other computer games where there are any “shooting games”,” Khinstein said.

Update: added a comment by Alexander Khinshtein.
