The Organization for the Development of the Video Game Industry (RVI) announced the completion of a comprehensive strategy to support game development in Russia for the next ten years. Recall that RVI reported the start of its development back in February, and the first version was publicly presented in March.
As stated by RVI, after releasing the first version of the strategy, they reached out to several major Russian gaming companies like "Lesta Games", Astrum Entertainment, and VK, as well as relevant ministries and departments. They all shared their opinions, which the organization considered in the final draft of the project.
Currently, RVI's prepared strategy, as it was in spring, lists seven areas for the development of game development in the country. Only the wording of the first has slightly changed: initially, it was "establishing a sustainable dialogue with state structures," but now it focuses not just on dialogue but on "regular working interaction" with authorities. Other areas include creating a favorable investment environment in Russia, enhancing the technological potential of domestic game development, strengthening export potential, and so on.
In total, RVI prepared a substantial number of proposals. For instance, they suggested dividing support measures according to the business profiles of companies: creating separate initiatives in Russia for publishers, developers, and gaming investors. Additionally, RVI wants representatives of the game development community to mandatorily participate in meetings of the State Duma, ministries, and various relevant government structures, with authorities granting tax incentives for them for at least one game development cycle, that is, 3-5 years.
RVI now plans to distribute their document to "those whose activities involve interaction with the video game industry for consideration in their work."
