This was stated by the Head of the Synodal Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Hilarion, in the program “The Church and the World” on the TV channel “Russia 24”.
According to the metropolitan, video games negatively affect the psyche. In his opinion, they can “knock a person out of a normal state” by plunging him into an illusory world, which will cause him to develop addiction. Therefore, the ROC does not participate in the development of games “in the same way as it does not participate in the production of drugs.”
