The release of the updated version of the third "The Witcher" will bring a hefty sum to CD PROJEKT RED, convinced analyst Krzysztof Tkocz from Erste Securities Polska.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered
According to the Polish expert's estimates, by the end of 2026, the remaster of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt could generate 100-125 million zloty or approximately 26-32.5 million dollars, based on the current exchange rate. This is despite it being available for free to all owners of the old version of the game. The analyst believes that the remaster will be actively purchased by gamers who did not have the opportunity to become familiar with the original in the past.
“We expect the premiere [of the remaster] to spark great interest and potentially allow the game to approach the record for the number of simultaneous users in Steam. It should also attract a new audience,” Tkocz stated.
The analyst forecasts remaster sales to reach 3 million copies for the period from September 29 to December 31, 2026.
The remaster of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is already available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2. Whether the predictions of Erste Securities Polska will come true remains to be seen, but at least the online presence of the game on Steam has started to grow rapidly in the first minutes after the update's debut. At the time of writing, over 49,000 platform users are playing the third "The Witcher" simultaneously — this is the best result since January 2023. By evening, this number will likely increase even further, and it is possible that it will indeed break the nearly seven-year-old record of 103.3 thousand people (which the game set during the premiere of the Netflix series of the same name).
