The company UNIGINE has released a new version of its engine — 2.19. The update was released eight months after the launch of version 2.18.
Key changes:
- The developers greatly optimized the engine. For example, they implemented multi-threaded rendering for DirectX12 and reduced RAM and VRAM usage;
- Improved handling of dynamic reflections, with support for calculating multiple bounces. This feature is available for Planar Reflection Probe and dynamic Environment Probe;
- A “Materials Quality” feature has been added for rendering, allowing for the optimal balance between quality and performance;
- Added support for the OpenXR standard for developing AR, VR, and MR applications;
- Introduced a unified SpiderVision plugin for displaying images on monitors, video walls, and projectors. It replaced a set of separate plugins like Wall, Projections, and EasyBlend;
- The process of creating material graphs became faster and more intuitive;
- Improved the experimental animation system;
- Added support for NVIDIA Quadro Sync cards (only for the Sim edition);
- The engine was integrated with .NET 8;
- As an experiment, developers added video streaming to an unlimited number of devices via WebRTC. Data can also be transmitted to mobile devices. As explained by the UNIGINE team, this allows a UNIGINE-based application to now be deployed in the “cloud.”
