Layoffs have also reached the French publisher Dear Villagers.

In a comment to the portal Game Developer, a representative of the company explained the layoffs as part of a reorganization currently being conducted by Plug In Digital — the owner of Dear Villagers. According to him, the process is still ongoing, so it is not clear exactly how many people will eventually leave the publisher. It is currently expected that there will be 15.
As noted by Game Developer, before the layoffs began, Dear Villagers had 20 employees. Thus, after the layoffs, almost no one will remain on the publisher's staff.
"This decision was undoubtedly difficult for us, as it affects employees and teams who have made significant contributions to the development of the company. Unfortunately, it is necessary to adapt to rapid changes in the gaming market and new economic realities," stated a representative of Dear Villagers.
Dear Villagers officially launched as a publishing label in 2019, and before that, the company operated for about three years under the brand Playdius. Currently, the publisher's portfolio includes several dozen games, including The Forgotten City, Caravan SandWitch, Deer & Boy, 1348 Ex Voto, Fabledom, Nocturnal, and a trilogy of visual novels for Vampire: The Masquerade.
