Yosuke Matsuda is preparing to leave the post of president of Square Enix. Instead, Takashi Kiryu, who now holds the position of Director of Strategic Development, will become the head of the Japanese company.

The decision on the change of management will be finally made in June 2023 at the shareholders’ meeting.

The reason for Matsuda’s departure is not explained. In an official press release, Square Enix said only that the gaming industry is undergoing major changes, and the reshuffle of the management team will benefit the company.

Matsuda has worked at Square Enix for more than 20 years. He joined the company in 2001, and took the position of president in 2013.
