Neil Newbon is an actor who played Astarion from Baldur's Gate 3 and received the award for Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Joystick Awards 2023. In his acceptance speech, he admitted that the gaming industry had saved his career.

According to Newbon, shortly before joining the gaming industry, he was broken and very close to leaving the profession of an actor. But then everything changed.

"The gaming industry has given me the opportunity to work on characters, support, love, passion and great friends. I cannot express how grateful I am to everyone present in the hall for calling me," said Newbon.

Newbon added that the character of Astarion means a lot to him. He managed to survive and cope with the trauma, and the actor understands well what his hero feels.

Baldur's Gate 3 is not the first game that Newbon has worked with. For example, he previously played the role of Elijah Kamsky from Detroit: Become Human and voiced Karl Heisenberg from Resident Evil Village.
