Clay John, a board member of the Godot Foundation, shared intriguing statistics about the engine in the Godot blog. Among other things, he calculated how many games created with Godot have been released on Steam in recent years.

John immediately clarified that he gathered some information from public sources since he does not have all the official data on hand. In the case of Steam, he referred to the SteamDB service, which showed the current situation on the platform.
As John noted, each year more Godot games appear in the Valve store. If in 2019 only 56 projects on this engine were released on Steam, then in 2020 there were 106. By 2025, the number of such new releases reached 1,229. In other words, over the past six years, the popularity of Godot among Steam developers has increased 22 times.
Nevertheless, John pointed out that a significant number of developers still prefer to release games made with Godot on the indie store itch.io due to its low entry barrier. According to his calculations, in 2025, 36,500 Godot games debuted on itch.io. Incidentally, this is also more than before — compared to 2019, their number increased 2.4 times.
How things are on other platforms — John did not say. However, it is quite likely that the number of such projects is gradually increasing there too. Let us recall, a couple of years ago, amid the Unity monetization scandal, many developers switched engines, opting for Godot. Among them were, for example, the creators of Slay the Spire 2 and Road to Vostok.
