Work on the next game in The Witcher franchise, code-named Project Polaris, is in full swing, according to CD PROJEKT's CEO Michał Nowakowski. He stated that the project would soon enter the full development phase.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Currently, the majority of developers at CD PROJEKT are engaged in Project Polaris. As of June 30, 2024, the game's team consisted of 410 people.
For comparison, here are the team sizes of other game projects:
- Project Orion (a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077) — 60 people;
- Project Sirius (a The Witcher spin-off by The Molasses Flood studio) — 42 people;
- Project Hadar (a new IP) — 20 people.
Nowakowski added that CD PROJEKT's Boston studio is also working intensively on the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel. However, they are currently only "laying the foundation" for the game. He did not specify when full-scale development is expected to start.
