The GamesIndustry portal noted in the UK Companies Registry that Build A Rocket Boy has been appointed with an external administrator, who is now managing the studio's affairs. Such specialists are typically assigned in cases of bankruptcy.

MindsEye

A representative of Build A Rocket Boy confirmed to GamesIndustry the fact of external administration and added that the appointed administrator is Opus Advisory Group. No further details were provided by the studio.

After the failed release of MindsEye in June 2025, Build A Rocket Boy indeed found itself in a less favorable situation, including financially.

Documents from Build A Rocket Boy reveal that for the fiscal year spanning from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025, the studio incurred a net loss of £36.2 million ($48 million). At the end of the reporting period, its debt to creditors amounted to £61.8 million ($81.9 million).

GamesIndustry also pointed out that in the summer of 2026, representatives from three companies that had invested in the studio — NetEase, RedBird Capital Partners, and Galaxy Interactive — left the board of directors of Build A Rocket Boy.

It should also be noted that Build A Rocket Boy experienced several waves of layoffs, with the latest occurring just a week ago, sparking rumors about the imminent closure of the studio. The transition to external administration might indeed be a step towards the liquidation of Build A Rocket Boy, but this cannot be asserted with certainty.
