Extra-curricular esports classes and esports clubs may appear in Malaysian schools. The head of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the country, Hannah Yeoh, intends to discuss the launch of the initiative with representatives of the Ministry of Education.
Officials believe that thanks to the initiative, Malaysian schoolchildren will be able to appreciate the advantages of esports, get rid of negative stereotypes and, perhaps, then build a career in this field.
Recall that Malaysia recognized esports as an official sport in 2015. In 2020, the government launched a strategy for the development of esports in the country, calculated until 2025.
