On the evening of May 29, the Polish CD PROJEKT group of companies published a report for the first quarter of 2023. Judging by her data, The Witcher 3 has become one of the most successful games in history.
▪️CD PROJEKT’s net profit increased by 1% and reached $16.5 million. At the same time, the group’s revenue fell by 19% to $41.2 million — 77.3% of the amount was brought by CD PROJEKT RED, which manages The Witcher and Cyberpunk brands.
The total sales of The Witcher series games exceeded 75 million copies, of which 50 million copies fell on The Witcher 3. According to the financial director of the group Peter Nelyubovich (Piotr Nielubowicz), now The Witcher 3 is in the top 10 best-selling games of all time.
Most of the employees are currently working on the Phantom Liberty add-on for Cyberpunk 2077. In second place in the number of busy people is Project Polaris, a new AAA game in The Witcher universe. It should be noted that the Project Polaris team has grown significantly over the quarter.
The group’s CEO Adam Kiciński confirmed that CD PROJEKT intends to remain independent. Earlier, the rumor that CD PROJEKT is negotiating with Sony was denied by senior PR manager Ola Sondej.
After the release of the report, CD PROJEKT shares rose by 5.13%.
