The screenwriter of Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 left Rockstar, the Binance cryptocurrency exchange banned Russians from using foreign currencies, Microsoft removed an introductory subscription for a dollar on the eve of the release of Starfield, — we tell you what happened in the gaming industry over the weekend.
Rockstar has been left by Michael Unsworth, who has held the position of Vice President of Writing for the past two years. In total, he worked for the company for 16 years. Most of them — as a senior creative writer. He was one of the writers of such games as Grand Theft Auto 4 and 5, Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2, Max Payne 3, and L.A. Noire. The reasons for leaving are not reported. The fact that Unsworth left the company became known from his LinkedIn profile.
The Binance cryptocurrency exchange has imposed restrictions on trading in any currency other than the ruble against Russian citizens. The ban began to take effect on Saturday, August 26. One of the results of the ban was the inability to replenish Steam and PlayStation wallets with foreign currency using the service. This practice was resorted to by those Russian players who had foreign accounts (as a rule, Turkish ones, where the cost of games is much lower, and the choice of available titles is greater).
▪️Before the release of Starfield, Microsoft again removed the opportunity to purchase a trial subscription Xbox Game Pass. Until last weekend, new users could buy a 14-day trial version of the service for just one dollar. Now it is only possible to purchase a one-month subscription for $9.99 (for PC owners) and $16.99 (for Xbox Series S and X owners). In March, Microsoft already removed a trial subscription for a dollar from access, but in July it returned it amid an increase in the cost of the Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
