Xbox has seen the departure of two more top managers, sales of Crimson Desert have exceeded 2 million copies, and in February, game market revenue in the United States amounted to $4.5 billion. Here are the main events in the gaming industry from the past weekend.

main events of the weekend

  • Microsoft's gaming division continues to lose its leaders. Vice President of Partnerships, Business Development, and Marketing Lori Wright and General Manager of Gaming AI Haiyan Zhang have now announced their resignations reported. It is already known that Zhang has decided to join Netflix, while Wright has not disclosed her future career plans. It is worth noting that both employees left shortly after significant restructuring in the division: at the end of February, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer and Xbox President Sarah Bond left Microsoft, and Asha Sharma became the new head of the team.
  • Analytics company Circana shared data on the U.S. gaming market for February 2026. According to their calculations, U.S. residents spent a total of $4.55 billion on video games, gaming hardware, and accessories during the month. This is 1% more than in February 2025. The highest-grossing paid game of the month (and for all of 2026 so far) was Resident Evil Requiem.
  • A controversial reception at the start did not prevent Crimson Desert from selling well. Pearl Abyss announced that the game sold 2 million copies in less than a day after release. In their sales report, the developers also promised to carefully listen to audience feedback and quickly improve the project. Meanwhile, the Steam version of Crimson Desert saw its share of positive reviews grow to 69%, and its peak online reached 248,530 players.
  • Lords of the Fallen has officially broken even. This was stated by CI Games CEO Marek Tymiński on X. He did not disclose how much it earned but noted that since its release in October 2023, 2.5 million copies of the game were sold. Previously, CI Games reported that the total budget for Lords of the Fallen was approximately 281 million złoty (or $66.6 million based on the fall 2023 exchange rate), which includes both development and marketing costs.
