On the night of Monday to Tuesday in Moscow, Rockstar Games published a trailer for the next numbered part of Grand Theft Auto. Now it is one of the central news in the industry, judging by the views on YouTube.
Initially, the video was supposed to appear online on Tuesday at 17.00. However, unknown people leaked it at night in poor quality. Rockstar Games immediately responded to the leak by making the original trailer available for viewing.
The video lasts 90 seconds. It is clear from it that the place of action is the Vice City of our days (more precisely, the fictional state of Leonid, the prototype of which is Florida), and the main character — for the first time since the release of GTA 3 (in the original dilogy, when the series was not yet three-dimensional, the female protagonists were still) — a female character, a young Latin American Lucia.
According to the debut trailer and the press release published after it, the game is scheduled for release in 2025. At the start, the game will be released exclusively on the current generation consoles — PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
In the first nine hours, the video has collected almost 50 million views, six million likes and more than 70 thousand comments. For comparison, the debut trailer for Grand Theft Auto 5 has collected 96 million views over 12 years (the previous part was first shown on November 2, 2011).
It is possible that in the first day the trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 will collect around 100 million views. Previously, this was only possible for the clips of the Korean band BTS. Their songs Butter and Dynamite broke the 100 million views mark in less than 24 hours.
The previous installment of Grand Theft Auto is considered one of the highest-grossing games in history. It sold 190 million copies and generated more than $8 billion in revenue.
