Enish is a Japanese mobile studio known for games like De:Lithe Last Memories and 進撃の巨人 Brave Order. The company decided to give its employees an unpleasant New Year's gift by cutting part of its workforce.

Enish announced its plans in a note to investors, which was highlighted by Serkan Toto, an analyst at Kantan Games.

Enish explained that it was compelled to make this move to achieve sustainable growth, optimize its business, and strengthen competitiveness. Previously, it reported losses for nine consecutive quarters.

It is important to note that Enish will not conduct standard layoffs. According to Toto, such a practice is generally uncommon in Japan. Instead, the studio asked employees in unprofitable departments to submit applications for what is called a “voluntary retirement” – resigning voluntarily with full necessary benefits.

The last working day for those who agree to leave Enish will be December 31, 2024.

How many people Enish intends to part with remains unspecified. Currently, the studio employs about 140 people.
