Developers from the Chinese studio Everstone Studio announced this achievement on social media.
Where Winds Meet
Everstone Studio thanked gamers for their interest in their project and mentioned that on December 12, the international version of Where Winds Meet was released on mobile devices; previously, it was only available on PC and PlayStation 5. How players are split across platforms was not specified.
Here’s how the audience for Where Winds Meet grew outside of China:
- 500 thousand people — 40 minutes after release;
- 2 million people — one day after release;
- 9 million people — two weeks after release;
- 15 million people — one month after release.
The developers did not share current data regarding the size of the audience for the Chinese version of Where Winds Meet, which debuted nearly a year earlier than the international version. But it is known that as of mid-November, it exceeded 40 million people.
In January, analysts at Goldman Sachs predicted that only in China, Where Winds Meet could earn 4.2 billion yuan ($573 million) over 12 months. Whether their prediction came true is unknown, but the game certainly succeeded in becoming a phenomenon.
