The game analytics tool niche is expanding. Recently, the public version of itchDB was launched—a service that aggregates data on projects from the digital store itch.io.

It is important to clarify that itchDB is not affiliated with the official itch.io team. It is developed by indie developer Konstantin Solomonov (also known as xkoster or xk), who took the initiative to delve into analytics as a personal project.

As Solomonov explained in a Reddit post, he was inspired to create a rough equivalent of the popular service SteamDB. Although the functionalities of the tools ended up being different, they share an ideological resemblance. Both track game dynamics and help access information hidden from store users.

Specifically, itchDB allows you to view:

  • rankings of the most popular games over the last 24 hours and the past week;
  • a ranking of the most popular assets sold on itch.io;
  • tag analytics: which tags are most in demand on itch.io, how many reviews games with them typically receive, how effective certain tag combinations are, and much more;
  • top content creators by the number of followers and reviews, as well as their current level of interest;
  • a chart of so-called "hidden gems"—games with high ratings but small audiences;
  • statistics on game jams;
  • cards for individual games with data on their store impressions, comment and rating dynamics, lists of similar projects, and more.

"I primarily created itchDB for developers. While itch.io shares statistics on your projects, it can still be difficult to gauge how your game is performing across the platform as a whole. It's also challenging to compare it with other new releases," Solomonov wrote on Reddit.
