John Riccitiello, who heads Unity, responded to the criticism of developers regarding the merger of his company with ironSource. In an interview with PocketGamer.biz he stated that the developers who do not think about monetization at the early stages of creating the game are “wonderful people, but they are also damn idiots.”
Riccitello stressed that he has been working in the industry for a long time and sees how it is changing. He is sure that those who want to succeed need to adapt and think, among other things, about revenue, user needs and much more, and not just about the game itself.
The deal between Unity and ironSource became known on July 13. Since then, the shares of the engine manufacturer have fallen by more than 18%. Also, a banner calling for Riccitello’s resignation appeared on the r/Unity3D subreddit.
