In Russia, Apple was officially recognized as a monopolist. The Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation (FAS) ruled that the company is abusing its dominant position in the market because it does not allow developers to inform App Store users about alternative payment methods.
Now Apple has to pay a revolving fine. Its size has not yet been determined, but, according to RIA Novosti, it can reach 15% of the company’s revenue in the Russian market.
The payment rules of the App Store attracted the attention of the FAS last summer. The agency demanded to eliminate the violations by September 30, but Apple did not do it. As a result, the FAS filed an antimonopoly case against her.
