According to Famitsu, in Japan alone, the physical copies of the game on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 reached 950,000 units. The majority were sold on the Switch — nearly 743,000 copies.

Regarding the PC version, the peak online player count for the Dragon Quest III reimagining on Steam exceeded 45,000 players. This makes it second in this metric among all Square Enix projects on the Valve platform. For comparison: the leader remains Final Fantasy XIV Online with 95,000 players.

It's noteworthy that since the debut of Dragon Quest in 1986 on the NES, the franchise has sold over 91 million copies. The most recent game in the original series — Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of An Elusive Age — sold 7 million copies over five years.

The release of Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake occurred on November 14 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch.
