According to CEO Térence Mosca, the challenging market conditions left Tequila Works with no other options. He added that, despite everything, he is proud of the team's achievements. Currently, Tequila Works' management is doing everything possible to support the employees.
The issues at Tequila Works surfaced in October. At that time, the studio began restructuring, conducted layoffs, and canceled an unannounced game. It appears the measures were insufficient to improve its financial situation.
Tequila Works was founded in 2009 and has since developed games like Deadlight, RiME, GYLT, and Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story. In 2022, a majority stake in the studio was acquired by Tencent for an undisclosed amount, and it was expected that the proceeds from the deal would go towards creating new original games.
