Canadian studio Red Barrels, known for its Outlast series, has reported a hacking attack. The perpetrators managed to breach its internal network and steal some data.

Red Barrels did not specify which particular data fell into the hands of the hackers. According to media reports, source codes for some games, game builds, employee personal data, and financial information were stolen. Meanwhile, player data remains secure.
Following the incident, Red Barrels conducted an investigation and strengthened its network security.
The studio added that the incident severely impacted its workflows. While it will strive to adhere to its roadmap, some previously planned tasks will have to be postponed. Currently, Red Barrels is working on developing the cooperative horror game The Outlast Trials, which was released in March 2024.
