The list of gaming companies downsizing their staff has welcomed a new addition. VRChat, the developer of the eponymous social VR game, has joined the ranks.

VRChat

VRChat CEO Graham Gaylor announced in a letter to employees that the studio will part ways with 30% of its staff. He explained that the company currently employs too many people. In the successful years of 2021-2022, VRChat was actively hiring in hopes of accelerating its growth even further. However, as the VR market began to decline, the studio was forced to reevaluate its processes.

Gaylor described the layoff of a third of the staff as a difficult but necessary decision. It will allow VRChat to avoid new problems and ensure the long-term health of the business.
