Facepunch Studios planned to meet with fans at the GDC developer conference next week. However, the meeting had to be canceled after several studio employees received death threats.

According to Alistair McFarlane, Rust‘s producer, threats have recently become “commonplace” for the studio. The developers of survival hear them almost daily — most often from the authors and buyers of cheats. In such a situation, the studio management decided to take the safety of employees seriously and not risk their health at the event.

Facepunch Studios is not the only studio that has faced threats over the past year. In particular, they were reported in Respawn Entertainment and Bungie.
