Developer Garry Newman, who created the sandbox game Garry’s Mod, informed IGN about the resolution of a DMCA complaint his game received due to Skibidi Toilet.
Skibidi Toilet
Newman mentioned that the creator of Skibidi Toilet, Alexey Gerasimov (also known as DaFuq!?Boom!), contacted him and helped resolve the issue. Newman also stated that the DMCA complaint was filed late last year.
As a reminder, Garry’s Mod was accused of unauthorized use of assets from Skibidi Toilet. Allegedly, unauthorized games inspired by Skibidi Toilet were being created in the sandbox using the same assets, which was generating "significant revenue" for Garry’s Mod creators. The catch is that Skibidi Toilet itself is made from Half-Life assets, just like Garry's Mod.
Previously, Gerasimov wrote on social media that he did not file a DMCA complaint against Garry’s Mod. The complaint listed Invisible Narratives, a film company planning to adapt Skibidi Toilet, as the sender. However, according to Gerasimov, they too did not send any letters. Who actually accused the game of violating Skibidi Toilet's copyrights remains unknown.
