Game designer Dene Carter believes that there is nothing wrong with borrowing the scale of games from other projects. He admitted that he did it himself during the development of Fable.

According to Carter, he took the dimensions of the Fable world from Devil May Cry, which he was playing at that time. To do this, the game designer calculated the number of zones in the title, their size and the average time spent in these zones. He was also inspired by the density of Silent Hill interactions and the Way of the Samurai fighting style.

Carter added that he has nothing to be ashamed of because he didn’t steal game ideas. In his opinion, it’s like noticing that most films last 90 minutes and deciding to do the same.
