Last fall, Rockstar Games fired several dozen people in the UK, accusing them of leaking confidential information. In turn, the developers claimed that the company did this to prevent them from forming a union.
According to Bloomberg, a preliminary hearing was held in early January in a UK employment tribunal. At this stage, Judge Frances Eccles deemed the arguments of the dismissed developers insufficiently convincing, therefore rejecting their request to be temporarily reinstated in the company and continue receiving salary payments.
Nonetheless, the hearing confirmed that the dismissed employees discussed Rockstar Games' internal matters on an external Discord server. The server had access for 350 people, among whom was a certain gaming journalist. However, the judge pointed out that some former employees contributed very little there.
When a final verdict on the lawsuit will be given is still unknown.
