Abiotic Factor — a science fiction survival game inspired by Half-Life. In an interview with PC Gamer, the founder of Deep Field Games, Geoff Keene, mentioned that the game surpassed 300,000 copies sold in less than a month: it was released in early access on Steam on May 2.

Keene also admitted that he personally is not a fan of survival games. He usually finds games in this genre monotonous and simply boring. Therefore, his studio tried to break the typical survival core-loop in Abiotic Factor, leaving only the aspects of the genre they liked. For example, the need to craft items and give characters rest to replenish their energy. At the same time, Abiotic Factor borrowed some mechanics from RPGs.
At the time of writing, Abiotic Factor has an “overwhelmingly positive” rating on Steam. The game received 6,400 reviews, 96% of which are positive. According to SteamDB, at its peak, 21,753 people were playing Abiotic Factor simultaneously.
