The China Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association released its annual report on the state of the local gaming market for the year 2024.
- In 2024, China's gaming industry revenue reached 325.8 billion yuan (44.8 billion USD), which is a 7.53% increase compared to the previous year.
- Traditionally, the majority of revenue came from the mobile games sector, amounting to 238.2 billion yuan (32.7 billion USD). The PC games sector followed, generating 68 billion yuan (9.3 billion USD).
- On the international market, Chinese games generated 18.6 billion yuan (2.55 billion USD). For the first time in three years, there was a 13.4% growth.
- Chinese mobile projects earned the most outside of China in the USA, accounting for 31.1% of the total revenue. Japan was second with 17.3%, and South Korea was third with 8.9%. The Chinese publication SCMP also noted that Saudi Arabia entered the top 10 for the first time.
- According to the report, by the end of 2024, there were 674 million gamers in China. However, this number has barely changed from the previous year, increasing by only 0.94%.
