Robert Henrysson will no longer lead Supermassive Games studio. He has decided to leave the team after two and a half years of work at the company.

Directive 8020

The top manager announced his resignation on LinkedIn. He did not elaborate on the reasons for this decision but emphasized that he is not leaving the gaming industry — Henrysson is willing to consult for various studios in the future if they need the assistance of an experienced specialist. For now, he wants to spend more time with his family and focus on investments.

It is notable that Henrysson is stepping down shortly after the release of Directive 8020, the new installment in The Dark Pictures horror anthology, which launched on May 12, 2026. It is unknown if these events are related, but it is worth mentioning that at least the Steam version of the game did not particularly impress the audience and received “mixed” reviews.

Along with leaving Supermassive Games, Henrysson also departed from Nordisk Games, the parent company of the studio.
