At the SPIEF 2026, the head of the Republic of Mordovia, Artem Zdunov, not only announced the region's ambitions in game development. He also disclosed the estimated cost of "Off-Road Commanders"—the spiritual successor to "Truckers," being developed with the support of the Mordovian authorities.

"Off-Road Commanders"

Zdunov did not name the exact budget for the game, stating that development is still underway. However, he is confident that the final amount will easily exceed 1 billion rubles. Most of this money will cover the costs of assembling the team of "Off-Road Commanders" developers and paying salaries.

At least part of the funds was allocated to the developers by the Institute for Internet Development (IIR). The exact amount is unknown, but it is possible that it amounts to hundreds of millions of rubles. In 2025, the CEO of IIR, Alexey Goreslavsky, reported at the SPIEF that the institute usually provides studios with 50-70% of their games' budgets. Additionally, among the partners of "Off-Road Commanders" are Gazprom-Media Holding and KAMAZ.

The Mordovian authorities themselves, Zdunov added, have provided the creators of "Off-Road Commanders" with tax breaks, workspace, and the necessary infrastructure.

Note that "Off-Road Commanders" is a multiplayer game about truck racing across Russia. It is being developed by the young Saransk-based studio "Foxhound."

"Off-Road Commanders" is expected to be released on PC in the fourth quarter of 2026.
