The Tech in Asia portal drew attention to this. According to him, over the past month, the DAU of the game Crazy Defense Heroes has decreased from 150 thousand to 40 thousand people. The drop coincided with the introduction of the KYC (know your customer) system into the project — verifying the identity of users.

Gamers stated that they have the right to anonymity and did not subscribe to KYC when they started playing Crazy Defense Heroes. In response, Animoca Brands pointed out that users already transfer personal data to Google and Apple when installing the game. However, even now Animoca Brands itself does not have direct access to gamers’ data.
