A new player has joined the ranks of game publishers. The Russian-speaking team Solarsuit Games, known for the Static Dread franchise, has decided to venture into publishing.
Leviathan: Rhino
The debut project for Solarsuit Games as a publisher will be Leviathan: Rhino—an existential horror in a Lovecraftian setting about an old man living out his final days in a remote area. The title is being developed by Amortiz Games from Kyrgyzstan, which has previously made a mark with games like Rooten and The Shaman’s Ark.
In a blog post on DTF, Solarsuit Games' game director Dmitry Beley mentioned that his team is not currently looking for more games to publish. He regards the partnership with Amortiz Games more as a collaboration between two indie developers than a classic studio/publisher relationship.
“Andrey, also known as Amortiz, is the creator of the game. He made a cool little horror with a neat visual style but lacks experience in promoting his game. I initially made a trailer for him and then suggested helping with the announcement page and trying out some marketing,” Beley wrote.
Moreover, Beley shared a bit about Solarsuit Games' future plans for Leviathan: Rhino. According to him, the team intends to keep promotion costs minimal—they will allocate funds for pre-release marketing if they have spare resources at that time. In any case, Solarsuit Games has set a rather modest goal for itself: helping Amortiz Games gather at least 10,000 wishlists.
Leviathan: Rhino is planned for release on September 13 on Steam.
Incidentally, Solarsuit Games, in its capacity as a developer rather than a publisher, is releasing a new game today. In the coming hours, Static Dread: The Submarine will be launched. Unlike the first part of the series, the events in this one will unfold not in a lighthouse but on a submarine. It's known that the new release has approached launch with 70,000 wishlists.
