Singapore-based technology giant Sea has released a report for the second quarter of 2023 (April 1 – June 30). Its gaming division Garena, which developed Free Fire, has again lost revenue.
▪️Garena’s revenue was $529.4 million. It decreased by 41.2% year-on-year and by 1.9% in quarterly terms.
The number of quarterly active users in Garena games amounted to 544.5 million people. This is 12% less compared to the second quarter of 2022, but 11% more than in the first quarter of 2023. Recall that the company’s portfolio includes not only Free Fire, but also versions of Call of Duty: Mobile and Honor of Kings for Southeast Asia, as well as a number of other projects.
The number of quarterly paying players for the year fell by 23% to 43.1 million people. However, it increased by 14.6% compared to the first quarter of 2023.
