The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Anton Alikhanov, told TASS that several companies have already shown the authorities their prototypes of a domestic gaming console. However, according to him, it is too early to talk about government support.

Alikhanov did not specify the names of the companies. There have been rumors that one potential console manufacturer could be "ROSA." It allegedly requested one billion rubles from the authorities to create a portable device similar to the Steam Deck. "Rostelecom," GS Nanotech, and "Beshtau" also expressed their readiness to work on the console.

The minister added that console developers need to be prepared to invest in games for them.

"First of all, it is necessary to proceed from the possibility of filling the gaming console with domestic content in the future. Because a console by itself, without games, as you understand, is not needed by consumers," said the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
