The other day, the pandemic simulator Plague Inc. turned ten years old. In honor of this, its creator James Vaughan held a question and answer session on Reddit. During a conversation with the users of the site, he admitted that his game becomes more popular every time there is an outbreak of any disease: flu, Ebola or coronavirus.
As Vaughn said, it is very embarrassing for him to see that the Plague Inc. scenarios he invented come true in real life. “I would like my games to succeed because they are well made, and not because of a global catastrophe,” he said.
Vaughn recalled that at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, he contacted medical and scientific experts and tried to understand how he could help. Also then he donated $250,000 to WHO and CEPI.
