Take-Two Interactive may have tempered its enthusiasm for artificial intelligence. The company reduced the team responsible for AI development.

Take-Two dismissed the head of the AI division and part of the team

News about the layoffs was posted on LinkedIn by Luke Dicken, who until recently served as the head of Take-Two's AI division. He mentioned that he, along with several colleagues, was affected by the cuts. However, Dicken did not specify how many people lost their jobs or what prompted the company to shed part of its workforce.

Take-Two declined to comment on the situation to the media.

Previously, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick had frequently stated that he considers AI a useful tool for game companies. Specifically, he is convinced that AI can significantly speed up and simplify the production aspect of game development. At the same time, Zelnick acknowledged that AI is not capable of generating a new GTA, since neural networks simply lack such capabilities and are unable to create something truly unique.

As of February 2026, it was known that Take-Two was testing "hundreds" of AI-related pilot projects.
