Good news for Godot game developers. W4 Games, a company dedicated to strengthening the ecosystem around the engine, has raised $18 million in investments.
This funding was provided by several investors, with Chinese giant Tencent leading the financing round. Alongside this, W4 Games has entered a multi-year strategic partnership with Tencent, who will aid in scaling Godot in Asia, including promoting the engine among local studios and its localization.
The $18 million received will be used by W4 Games to accelerate the development of corporate solutions in Godot.
Additionally, some of the funds will go towards hiring more staff for W4 Games’ international team. The company plans to roughly double its team size.
In their press release, W4 Games also boasted about Godot's successes. According to their observations, in recent years, there has been a rapid increase in the number of games created with Godot on Steam. For instance, in 2024, there were 50% more than in 2023, and in 2025, there were 50% more than in 2024. Data from Gamalytic shows that the number of hits has also increased—three years ago, only two Godot games achieved annual revenue of over one million dollars, whereas now there are 50 such titles.
As a reminder, in 2023, W4 Games had already secured investments for the development of Godot, though they were slightly smaller, at $15 million.
