- Sony as a whole earned a total of 2.83 trillion yen ($17.6 billion) over the quarter. Compared to last year, its revenue increased by 8%.
- The gaming division brought Sony more money than any other — 937.1 billion yen ($5.83 billion). However, PlayStation's revenue was almost the same a year ago — the amount increased by only 0.06%.
- More than half of PlayStation's revenue came from game sales — 526.6 billion yen ($3.28 billion, -2.5%), primarily digital game versions. Disc sales provided Sony with "only" 20.5 billion yen ($127 million, -9.7%).
- In units, quarterly game sales for PlayStation 4 and 5 totaled 66.1 million copies. Of these, 6 million copies were Sony's own games.
- Revenue from Sony's gaming services grew by 20.8% to 208.6 billion yen ($1.3 billion). This includes income from PlayStation Network, PlayStation Plus, and advertising.
- In June, the PlayStation Network had 125 million monthly active users, a record for the month.
- Revenue from console and other gaming hardware sales continued to decline. It has now fallen by 9.8% to 138.3 billion yen ($860 million).
- In total, Sony sold 1.6 million units of PlayStation 5 over the quarter. Total console sales have reached 95.3 million units.
- While the gaming division's revenue changed little over the year, operating profit showed significant growth. It jumped by 37% to reach 202 billion yen ($1.26 billion). According to Sony, this was mainly achieved because the U.S. authorities refunded the money for canceled tariffs.
- Operating profit could have been even higher, but the division also saw increased expenses due to work on the PlayStation 6 and "restructuring." This likely refers to the recent layoffs at Bungie.
