The developers of Super Zoo Story, a pixel art zoo simulator, raised $173,000 from gamers on Kickstarter. This is 288% of their minimum goal.

The crowdfunding campaign for Super Zoo Story launched on October 1. Initially, the developers set a relatively modest goal of $60,000, which the game reached just four days after the fundraising began. At present, more than 3,800 people have backed the project.
However, the campaign has not yet achieved its two latest stretch goals. If it reaches $210,000, the game will be released not only on PC but also on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
Super Zoo Story immediately attracted attention with its pixel art graphics and its apparent resemblance to Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon. Fans of the genre speculated that pre-made assets were used in the zoo simulator.
The developers acknowledged being inspired by classic projects. However, they noted that since the initial announcements, the game has undergone significant changes in both mechanics and visual style. “We heard the feedback regarding the resemblance and completely redrew the game to reflect our unique vision,” they stated.
