Sumo Group explained the layoffs by citing issues in the gaming industry. The company stated that it is forced to reduce staff and cut several expenses to secure the business in the long term.
In a comment to GamesIndustry, the company confirmed that as part of the layoffs, it will close the Canadian studio Timbre Games. The studio was founded three years ago and was working on two unannounced console and PC games.
