Astrum Entertainment conducted a study on female gamers and gender stereotypes in games. To do this, she interviewed more than 9 thousand people. Of these, 7.8 thousand are men, and 1.2 thousand are women.

  • 55% of the survey participants reported that they had experienced gender discrimination in games. 13% of women said that men treat them condescendingly and make fun of them. 5% of women have heard insults addressed to them.
  • 38% of women feel discomfort and anxiety because of this, 32% insult abusers in response, 19% start playing less.

  • However, a quarter of women noted that the number of bullying cases has decreased over the past five years. 27% of men agree with them. However, 15% of women and 8% of men, on the contrary, believe that there are more such cases.
  • 35% of women and 31% of men said that stereotypes about female gamers are no longer relevant. 22% of women and 19% of men think otherwise.
  • every fifth participant in the survey said that she wants to work in game development.
  • 46% of men and 38% of women said that it doesn't matter to them who makes the game — men or women. The main thing is that the game turns out to be of high quality. Only 3% of men and 1% of women said they would not play games developed by an all-female team.

  • 43% of women and 40% of men believe that the presence of women in the development team will have a positive impact on the game.
