The service "Yookassa" and the AGAVA studio (who assisted in the development of the games "Vasilisa and Baba Yaga," BUKI, and Cocktail Island) analyzed the spending of Russian gamers in games from January to June 2024. Below are the findings from the study.

  • According to "Yookassa," the overall revenue of gaming companies increased by 11% compared to last year. However, the exact amount is not disclosed.
  • The number of in-game purchases increased by 5%. The average bill grew by 6% to 520 rubles.
  • The number of gamers spending money in games decreased by 21%.
  • Bank cards are the most popular payment method, accounting for 40% of purchases. However, their share was higher last year at 46%. The share of invoicing (issuing an online invoice for payment) rose from 25% to 28%.
  • In the first half of 2024, more than 60% of Russians played video games.
  • AGAVA predicts that in the next couple of years, the gaming market in Russia will grow by 15-20% annually. Growth factors include companies adapting to conditions post-2022, state support, the emergence of gaming associations, and the development of new technologies. Risks identified by experts include lack of funding, increased costs for game development and marketing, and legal and regulatory risks.
